Girls Room Redesign

Sharing some pictures from our Girls Room Redesign today. This has been a project in the work for months. Then, a few months before I actually took the pictures, ha!

I love the combination of white and gold – a perfect touch for girls transitioning from a toddler room to a big girl room.

Girls white and gold room.

big girl room redesign-

Elizabeth Rose is 8 and Abigail Lily is 4 (2018). I was trying to go with a room redesign that would be great for them as they get older and I won’t have to do any major changes for a while. I could just add a touch of color and it would be enough if I decide to.

I love the combination of white and gold. It’s so fresh and makes the room feel so spacious. Originally, I just had the white and gold without the polka dots, it felt just a bit “too grown-up” so when I ordered the polka dots and added them, I love the look the stickers add. Takes it from an overly teenage room and feels just right.

BED FRAME-

I got the metal bed head frame from Overstock. I was a bit nervous about purchasing it because I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to paint it. But, I did and LOVE the way it came out. This is the gold spray paint I used here.

This is the bed skirt I purchased. It’s a beautiful bed skirt that would go with any bed set.

Bed frame with white pillows with three golden framed pictures.

furniture-

The furniture we purchased was from IKEA. Very afford and the quality was very impressive. Yes, it’s a bit annoying to put it together but was worth the savings. I then just took the drawer nobs and spray painted them as well, using this paint. Loved the new look with the gold nobs.

The mirror was a simple black mirror that I also painted with the same gold paint, I believe I got it at Target or Walmart. I had some serious difficulties with it, but, it still looks rather cute (my little one wanted her fingerprints on the freshly painted sides, sighh).

I got the fluffy bench at HomeGoods but here’s a similar bench.

A white dresser topped with gold accents with a gold mirror above it.
Tall dresser with a plant and gold giraffe.

desk-

I got the desk at IKEA as well. The legs were white and I spray painted those as well. I was going to initially get this desk here. Very cute, modern and chic. This is the desk chair I ordered. I love it. It’s oversized and really comfortable. I also just spray painted the legs to match the rest of the gold touches.

The decor on the desk is here: alarm clock, a similar super cute lamp, and a similar basket to the one I got that they use for their laundry.

The desk station with golden accents and a white chair.

shelves-

I got the glass shelves at IKEA as well and just spray painted them from black to gold. Love how cute they are.

Here’s a jewelry holder for hairpins and ties. You’ve got to have some pineapple décor just because they’re so cute. You also need pineapple bookends. 🙂

Golden book shelf loaded with golden decor accents.

I had a few “BEFORE” pictures but they were on my phone and it crashed so all of my pictures are gone. Anyhow, we had a tan carpet in there before (that was like 12 years old) and tan walls. Very old fashion and oh so boring – screaming, please redesign.

The pillowcases were a favorite project. I went to a fabric store and purchased the gold sequence material and the shiny gold material. Then, all I did was used fabric adhesive to seal the edges and made the pillowcases that way. Super easy peasy and you’d never know I didn’t use a sewing machine. (This will be our little secret.)

A collage of the different decorations we have in the bedroom.

Well, this is my first time sharing our home. Did you enjoy it? I have a degree in Interior Design so this project was so fun for me.

Do you want to see more of my interior design decorating projects? 🙂

QUESTION: Do you enjoy decorating and redesigning or do you dread it? What colors are your kids’ rooms?:) I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Loved this post. You should help me with my home design. ?I’ve been trying to find the right stuff for living room, bathrooms and bedrooms and it seems like none of the stuff is “speaking” to me. I will know if that’s the right design when I see it, except that I haven’t seen what I’m looking for. I’ve been trying to design my 5 yr old room and now I have to prepare our infant’s room so that he’ll start getting used to sleeping in his own bedroom. Don’t even know where to start!?

    1. Olga, I’ll be right over! Before I became a full-time mom, that’s what I did for a living. I had a cleaning job that gave me the right connections and turned into an interior design business. It was amazing. Was such a hard decision to leave that. Hey, if you need any help, shoot me an e-mail. 🙂 🙂 The process is long but the results are worth it!

    1. You’re so sweet. Thanks, sis. And you’re the one with the talent, I just want to be like you. 🙂 <3

  2. I love your decor. As for me, I dread to start something but then love the results. My kids room are in transition state from nursery to big kid rooms. The color I have for girl is mauve and baby boys room is dusky teal. I chose these colors because they are soothing for newborns and perfect subtle colors for kids.

    1. Katie, your colors sound absolutely dreamy.
I kind of get what you mean. This was a big project that needed to be done since Elizabeth was born (8 years ago). 🙂 The feeling of completion is oh so WONDERFUL.

  3. Valentina you did a beautiful job. Something I would like to do as well if I have a girl(s) someday. For now I just have two boys and a hubby who really don’t care about the design.I really enjoyed the post and would like to see more design/family posts in the future.

    1. Thanks so much, Lubochka. You’d be amazed how much girls can change the minds of their dad, ha. 🙂 Thanks for the encouragement for future posts, so appreciated. Knowing what you all want to see helps me know what to create and post. 🙂
Thanks for being a part of our online family.

  4. Love this post! You definitely did an amazing job. Please share more of your projects & share your tips & tricks.
I kind of dread starting a project but love seeing the outcome.

    1. Thanks, Viktoriya. You are so sweet. I’m like super excited that there are some of you that likes this kind of thing because I sure do and it would be great to share it. 🙂

  5. Beautiful room!!! I love a well decorated home, but it’s something I’m not good at! Would love other posts about decorating, thanks!!!

    1. Thanks, Illonochka. You’re so sweet.
Hey, sometimes it just takes a little bit of practice. So glad you enjoyed this post. We have a few more rooms in the works so I’ll share the before and after. We build our home in 2005 and with 5 kids, some rooms are ready for a touch-up and redesign.

  6. Boy rooms ideas, please… but the girls room is looking awesome. For some reason I think there is always so much more ideas/things for girls out there then boys. Unless it’s just me thinking like that since I only have boys, lol.

    1. Really? I thought it was easier to decorate for boys, ha! Nathan’s room is a Nautical theme. I’ll have to share that for sure. Older boys room (they share), is a gray and white with orange accent.
      Thanks for visiting, Oksana.

  7. Amazing design of a girls bedroom Valentina! And so much work! Looks beautiful! I tend to procrastinate with designing bedrooms;) seem to have a picture in my head of exactly what I want, but then always feel bad spending on it;) I have 2 boys, one toddler and one an infant… Both are in the same room, and we painted one wall light baby blue, and the other 3 walls striped with white and the same light blue. Furniture is white, and grey… So pretty basic 🙂

    1. Lenka, oh trust me, this was a long time project. I like to keep looking until I find the “perfect” pieces that I have in mind. But, the finished product is lovely.
Oh I love your boys’ room, it sounds lovely for boys. Our Nathan (6), has a Nautical theme and sounds similar to yours.

  8. I absolutely love how you designed the bedroom – it’s beautiful! Yes, please share more design ideas. I’m sure many of your followers would welcome your ideas. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much for visiting and your feedback, Tamra. So appreciate it! I’m so glad you enjoyed a piece of my heart – a love for design and decorating.

  9. The room looks cute. White makes it look so fresh and gentle. Totally matches girls that age. Good job. I surely don’t have that talent. Come redesign our home ?.

    1. You are so sweet, my friend. Thank you! You noticed our redesign:) :). We just went live yesterday but there are a few more tweaks we need to make. I’m so excited.

    1. Hi, Vira! Under the first picture I talk about the polka dots, if you click on the bold green polka dots, it’ll take you to the exact ones I purchased. 🙂 I hope that helps. Thank you for visiting our online home.

  10. The room looks so fresh and serene. Where did you buy the picture frames (the ones hanging above a headboard)? Thanks

    1. Thanks so much, Oksana. It just purchased inexpensive frames and spray painted them. 🙂 I think from Walmart.

  11. It’s a beautiful and a very tastefully done room, however, do the girls share a bed? (couldn’t find a second bed in the pics).

  12. I loved your RV remodel and the girls’ room redesign. I personally don’t think I have the talent for such things, but I so wish to train myself for it. Maybe you can share your knowledge and do a post about what are the main things to keep in mind when designing and decorating? I would love a post like that. I just love your style…so simple and yet so beautiful.

    1. Thanks so much for the sweet comment, Julia. I’m so glad you enjoy some of our design projects – oh how I LOVE that kind of work. I will definitely take your idea into consideration.

  13. Valentina, the girl’s room is gorgeous and inspiring!!! Can you, please, share where did you get their bedding set?
We just bought a house and I have to come up with the decor ideas ….. Hard for me…. Thanks for your posts!!!
P.S. Have you ever thought of becoming at least a virtual designer, I’d be your first customer:)

    1. You are so sweet, Nataly! And I absolutely grinned from ear to ear from your comment because I LOVE interior decorating SO much. I am currently pregnant and once we deliver, we want to focus more on decorating and house tips that I’ve learned over the years. I’m excited and think you will enjoy it.
