Ingredients
8
Tbsps
unsalted butter
divided
2 1/3
cups
all purpose flour

Tbsp
baking powder

large eggs
1/3
cup
granulated sugar

vanilla extract
1/3
cup
heavy whipping cream
1
cup
mini chocolate chip morsels

sugar coarse sugar

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a
9x13 baking sheet
with
parchment paper
.
Cube 7 Tbsp butter and freeze until needed. Set aside 1 Tbsp butter for the topping.
In a
bowl
, add the eggs, sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream,
whisk
until combined.
Sift
flour and baking powder into a bowl and add the frozen butter. Mix the mixture with a
pastry cutter
until crumbly.
Create a well in the dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients into, mix just until combined.
Add the chocoloate chips and carefully fold into the batter.
Shape the batter into an 8-inch dish and divide into 8 even sized scones. Transfer the scones onto the baking sheet.
Melt the reserved 1 Tbsp butter and with a
pastry brush
, brush the scones and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
Bake for 16-18, or until the tops are golden.
