Homemade Pretzel Dog Recipe
The ultimate homemade pretzel dog recipe made with hot dogs wrapped with a soft and chewy pretzel dough and baked. This homemade pretzel dog will become a family favorite!
- 12 beef hot dogs
- coarse salt, optional
Shape the pretzel dogs-
In a large pot bring the water and baking soda to a boil. Preheat the oven to 450°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Once the dough has risen, flour workspace and add the dough onto the work space.
Divide the dough into 12 equal parts. Roll out each piece into about an 18 inch rope and then wrap the dough around a hot dog pinching the sealing ends so that it does not unfold.
Repeat with all 12 hot dogs and the rest of the dough.
Add about 3 pretzel dogs at a time in the water bath for about 30 seconds, with a strainer spatula remove the pretzel dogs then add them to the prepared baking sheet. Top with coarse salt if desired.
Bake the pretzel dogs at 450°F for about 14-16 minutes or until crispy and golden.
