Crockpot Ribs Recipe

A baking sheet with the barbecue ribs layer out next to a dipping sauce container.
There’s nothing quite like homemade ribs. This recipe makes the perfect, mess-free crockpot ribs. Each bite of these barbecue ribs is full of tender meat that falls right off the bone.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 7 hours
Total Time: 8 hours 15 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 3-4 pounds baby back pork ribs
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the sugar, onion powder, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika for the dry rub.
  • Cut the meat between the bones.
  • Season the meat on all sides of the ribs.
  • Cook on low for 7-9 hours or 4-5 hours on high.
  • Brush the ribs with the barbecue sauce and cook at 365°F for 8-10 minutes. This is optional, you can serve once you brush with barbecue or return to the crockpot to keep warm.

Notes

  • Storage. Store leftover ribs in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Store the ribs in the sauce.
  • Reheat. Warm the ribs in the sauce on a stovetop skillet until fully reheated.
  • For a crispy finish, coat the ribs with barbecue sauce, transfer them to a baking dish lined with parchment paper, and cook for the last 10 minutes in the oven at 425°F.
  • Whole ribs. If you don’t want to cut the ribs into pieces, just add another hour to cook time.
