Easy Baked Brie Recipe (with Honey)
A simple baked brie is the perfect appetizer you need to elevate your next hosting experience. A melty, gooey brie topped with honey and crisp nuts, what’s not to love? The entire process takes little to no hands-on effort, and before you know it, you have the perfect starter.
- 1 8 oz brie cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans or pistachios
- 2 Tbsp honey
- To garnish rosemary or thyme, optional
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet or cast-iron skillet.
Place the brie on the baking sheet and score the top rind with a knife in a crosshatch pattern. Add the chopped walnuts.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the center is soft.
Remove from the oven and carefully transfer to a serving dish; it’s easier to just remove with the parchment paper. You can then gently pull the parchment paper out.
Drizzle the top of the brie/walnuts with honey.
Serve warm with your favorite crackers and bread.
- Experiment with flavor. Though this brie is delicious as is, you can elevate it with just a few simple toppings! Add cranberry jam or raspberry preserves for a sweet flavor, and fresh fruit, like sliced apples and figs, takes it to a whole other level.
- The right baking dish. We like baking the brie directly in a serving dish, so there’s no need to transfer it later. A small cast-iron skillet or a shallow baking dish works perfectly and makes it easy for guests to dip into it.
- Avoid over baking. For perfectly soft brie, be careful not to overbake it; otherwise, the center can turn firm. Start checking it near the end of the baking time. Insert a toothpick into the center; if melty cheese clings to it, it’s ready.
- Serve right away. Baked brie is best enjoyed hot and gooey, so try to bake it just before serving. If the rest of the food isn’t quite ready but the brie is, go ahead and serve it anyway—your guests will appreciate a warm, melty snack instead of cooled, firm cheese.
