Grilled Chicken Sandwich Recipe

This grilled chicken sandwich recipe makes the perfect, healthy chicken sandwich at home! The chicken is marinated and grilled to a juicy finish, making it the ideal sandwich when topped with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

chicken marinade-

  • 4 slices of American cheese
  • 1/4 red onion sliced
  • 4-6 tomato slices
  • 1 pickle sliced

Instructions

  • To a bowl add all of the ingredients for the chicken marinade. Add the chicken into the marinade and store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, up to overnight.
  • When you are ready to cook, remove the chicken from the fridge and allow it to sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  • Heat the grill to 400°F and place the chicken on the grill.
  • Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes on both sides or until cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken from the grill and rest for 5 minutes.
  • While the chicken cooks, prepare the toppings.
  • To your buns, add your favorite condiments. We love to add mayo, ketchup, and mustard.
  • Add the chicken cutlet to the bun and top with cheese and any of your other favorite toppings.
  • Serve, and enjoy friends!

Notes

  • Avoid overcooking the chicken. The secret to a tasty and juicy chicken cutlet is ensuring it doesn't get overcooked. 
  • Pile on the toppings. A variety of vibrant vegetables can elevate any sandwich. Feel free to get creative with your toppings! Consider adding caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms for a fantastic flavor combination.  
  • Storage. Keep leftover chicken cutlets in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • Reheat. To enjoy leftover chicken, warm it up in a pan and then assemble it into fresh sandwiches.  Freezing. Cooked chicken patties can be frozen and stored for up to 3 months. Place the cooked chicken in a freezer-safe container and store it in the freezer. To reheat, thaw the chicken in the refrigerator overnight and warm it in a pan until heated.
