Homemade Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

Tzatziki sauce is a creamy condiment of Mediterranean Greek origins. This sauce is a blend of thick Greek yogurt, crispy cucumbers, and incredibly flavorful fresh herbs. Use as a dip, dressing, or condiment.

Servings: 2 cups

Ingredients

  • ½ English cucumber grated cucumber partially peeled (striped) (1 1/2 cups squeezed)
  • 1 tsp salt divided, or to taste
  • tsp black pepper or to taste
  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 5 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped dill
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • pitas for serving
  • vegetables for serving

Instructions

  • Grate the cucumber on the large holes of your box grater and toss with 1/2 tsp salt.
  • Allow the cucumber to sit a few minutes then squeeze out excess water with a cheese cloth or kitchen towel.
  • In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, dill, oil and season with remaining salt and pepper. Add cucumber and stir to combine.
  • Chill for one hour in the refrigerator.
  • Serve, and enjoy friends!

Notes

Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days
Servings: The sauce will serve 6-8 as a side sauce.
