Apple Bread Recipe

This apple bread recipe is the perfect quick and easy fall dessert. This apple bread has a delicate cinnamon flavor and the bursting apples bring so much flavor to this dessert.

Ingredients

bread-

  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, measured then sifted
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp (1 stick)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced (3 apples)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans

icing-

  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup powder sugar
  • ¼ tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream

Instructions

prepare bread-

  • Prepare your loaf pan by lining it with parchment paper. Spray lightly with baking spray and dust with flour, and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, cinnamon, and baking powder. These will be your dry ingredients.
  • In a separate bowl, beat sugar and butter until light and creamy, about 2 minutes. Continue beating while adding one egg at a time.
  • Pour the milk and vanilla into the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Add the dry ingredients into the wet and fold to combine.
  • Fold the apple chunks and nuts into the batter.
  • Pour the mixture into the bread pan and bake for 50-55 minutes at 355°F.
  • Set the bread on a wire rack to cool completely.

prepare glaze -

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. Bring to a light simmer before removing the sauce from heat.
  • Stir in heavy whipping cream and set aside to cool.
  • Once the sauce has cooled, stir in the powdered sugar.
  • Once the bread loaf has cooled, drizzle on the icing.

Notes

  • Storage. Apple bread can be stored at room temperature for 1-2 days if wrapped tightly.  
  • Freeze. Apple bread can last longer when stored in the freezer! Wrap the apple bread tightly in plastic wrap and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw: Place the apple bread in the fridge or countertop overnight and serve!
