Honey Glazed Ham
This honey glazed ham recipe makes a hearty entree with little to no effort! A juicy ham is roasted in a brown sugar-honey glaze, making for a caramelized exterior. Thin slices of ham make for the perfect entree for any holiday.
- 8 lb fully cooked bone-in ham (8-10 pounds)
ham glaze-
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- ¼ tsp ground paprika
- ⅛ tsp ground black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt
Let the ham come to room temperature for about 1 hour to help it cook evenly.
Remove the ham from the packaging and pat it dry with a paper towel.
Line a roasting pan with foil and place the ham cut side down. Heat a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, and whisk in honey, brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Bring the sauce up to a simmer and remove from the heat.
Use a pastry brush to apply half of the glaze to the ham. Roast the ham at 325°F in the oven for 1 1/2 hours.
Increase the oven heat to 375°F and pour the rest of the glaze on the ham. Bake for an additional 15-25 minutes.
Once the internal temperature of the meat reaches 135°F, remove the ham from the oven.
Allow the ham to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Serve, and enjoy!
- Thaw the ham. Let the ham sit at room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.
- Cook to perfection. The ham is ready when it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F, and the glaze is beautifully caramelized.
- Rest before slicing. Allow the ham to rest for 10 minutes before cutting. This keeps it juicy and tender.
- Store leftovers. Place any leftover ham in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
- Reheat. Warm the ham in a skillet or oven before serving, or enjoy it cold in sandwiches.
- Freeze for later. If you’ve made extra, slice the ham thinly and store it in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. When ready to enjoy, reheat the slices in a hot pan until warmed through.
