Pumpkin French Toast Recipe (With Homemade Pumpkin Butter)
This homemade pumpkin french toast recipe brings a seasonal delight to your morning. A pumpkin-infused french toast is so flavorful, and the cherry on top is the homemade pumpkin butter.
In a large bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the egg/milk mixture. Transfer to a casserole dish (easier to dredge the bread).
Submerge the bread slices into the egg mixture, covering both sides. Place bread on a platter. Continue with the remaining bread slices.
Add butter and oil to a large skillet for frying. Amounts will vary depending on the size of the pan. Place about 2-3 bread slices in the skillet at a time.
Cook over med/high heat for about 2-3 minutes on per side, until bread is golden and crispy.
Prepare butter topping. In a bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Add the powdered sugar and pumpkin spice and beat again.
Serve the hot french toast with butter topping, and enjoy!
Notes
Use the right bread: For the best french toast, use thick slices of stale bread.
Toppings: Along with the pumpkin butter, top the french toast with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar.
Clean the pan: For the best french toast, clean the skillet with a paper towel between batches of toast.
Storage. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Refrigerate for up to 3 days.
Reheat. Warm up leftovers on a warm skillet until crispy on both sides.
Freeze. French toast can be frozen to last longer and make an easy breakfast! Arrange the cooked french toast slices on a baking sheet and freeze. Once the bread is frozen, add the slices to a freezer-safe container or bag. Store for up to 3 months. Reheat: Thaw the french toast in the fridge overnight and warm up on a skillet until crispy.
