Ingredients

toppings

  • 2 Tbsp mayo
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 large tomato sliced into 4 slices
  • ½ medium red onion sliced
  • 8 lettuce leaves

Instructions

  • Add all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix until incorporated with your hands or spoon mix until incorporated.
  • Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, ensuring they are of uniform size for even cooking.
  • Once the grill is hot, place the burger patties on the cooking surface. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until the burger reaches desired doneness. After flipping the patty once, add sliced cheese and let it melt while the burger finishes cooking. Remove the burgers from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Spread mayo on the burger buns and to the bottom bun, add your patty. Top with sliced tomato, red onions, and lettuce. Don’t forget the top bun and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use toppings. Cheese and your favorite vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles, and pickled jalapenos make great additions.
  • Pick the right meat. It’s important when making burgers to pick ground beef with some fat. 80/20 or 85/15 are ideal. Most fat will melt and drip down since the burgers are being cooked on the grill. Picking a lean ground beef will result in a dry, hard burger.
  • Keep your meat cold. Keep the remaining meat in the fridge when forming your patties, as it’s harder to shape when warm.
  • Don’t be shy with the seasoning. Season your meat thoroughly to give you the most flavorful patty.
Let the burgers rest. After the burgers are cooked, let them rest for a few minutes before digging in. This helps the burger retain all those juices.
