Classic BLT Sandwich
A classic BLT sandwich is the perfect lunch to make from scratch. Toasted bread, layered with creamy avocado spread, crispy bacon, juicy tomatoes, and of course, fresh lettuce. A BLT sandwich is a timeless lunch for a reason: the flavors go so well together, making for the perfect easy meal.
Toast bread. Toast the bread slices if you prefer them toasted (we do).
Make avocado sauce. Prepare avocado spread in a container and store in the fridge until ready to use.
Assemble. Spread the avocado sauce on both sides of the bread slices. Top with tomatoes, bacon, and lettuce.
Serve. Close the sandwich, serve and enjoy, friends.
- Avocado spread: Swap avocado spread for mayo or homemade garlic aioli.
- Choose quality bacon. Thick-cut bacon gives a homemade BLT the best flavor and crispy texture.
- Use ripe tomatoes. Since a BLT has simple ingredients, a juicy and flavorful tomato makes a big difference.
- Toast the bread. Toasting is optional, but it adds extra crunch and helps give the sandwich the perfect texture.
