Hot Seafood Appetizers (VIDEO)

The recipe for these canapes (open-faced sandwiches) is pretty remarkable. Crab and shrimp added with tomatoes and cheese and a hint of jalapeno and toasted – soo good. Everyone will want the recipe at your next party!

Three hot seafood appetizers on a tray.

Oh how I love canapรฉs (or just sandwiches as we Ukrainians like to call them). They are great for parties or just to enjoy as a side or brunch. These have such a wonderful balance with the cheese, crab, shrimp and jalapenos that add great flavor. Once baked and the bread gets crunchy and everything is so creamy and just melts in your mouth, a wonderful experience I tell you.

These were inspired by the Crab Dip and Seafood Phyllo Cups. If you like Canapes as much as I do, have you tried the Chicken and Mushroom Canapes or the A.M.A.Z.I.N.G Spinach Mushroom Artichoke Canapes? I think it is safe to say I LOVE CANAPES:)>… Enjoy my friends.. ๐Ÿ™‚

(P.S. This is an older recipe I created a video for.. Hope you are enjoying our short videos. What video would you like next?.)

Step by step pictures on how to make hot seafood canapes.

In a small bowl combine the cream cheese, mayo, Parmesan cheese and seasonings. (Add Cayenne to taste. I really like food with a kick to it so I add some Cayenne pepper to the tops of the canapรฉs as well.)

Combine all of the ingredients.

Spread over the bread slices.

I am making these at work and we do not have an oven so I was thinking of putting it in a small crock pot to keep it hot. Do you think this would work?

    • admin 03/10/2017, 1:22 pm ๎˜Š ๎˜‰

      Hi Caroline,
I have never tried it that way, but I am sure that would work. All that needs to happen is that the mixture becomes really warm. If you have a toaster there, you could also toast the bread slices so they become slightly crunchy or you could even serve them without toasting. Hope the slow cooker works out and you get a ton of raves!. ๐Ÿ™‚

1 cup of shredded cheese. What kind can I use? I would like to stuff avocado halfs with this mixture.

    • admin 02/19/2017, 10:49 am ๎˜Š ๎˜‰

You can use any cheese you like, Rose. Mozzarella is great, four cheese or provolone. Stuffed avocado halves sounds fantastic! I’d love to hear how they turned out. Enjoy.

  • Tanya 06/08/2015, 12:52 pm ๎˜Š ๎˜‰

Hi Valechka! These look and sound absolutely delicious! I do have a question, with Jalap. pepper, do these canapes have a bite or are they spicy? Thank you.

    • admin 06/08/2015, 1:13 pm ๎˜Š ๎˜‰

Oh they really are good, I think you will like:). If you chop the jalapeรฑos into really small pieces (like as small as you can get them) you won’t be able to feel them, they will just add flavor but not too spicy. Kind of like a little kick to it. If you do want spicy though add more than a dash of Cheyenne pepper:)..
