How to Make Candied Walnuts

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the butter, egg white, and vanilla.

2. In a separate bowl, combine salt, cinnamon and sugar; stir to combine.

3. Add walnuts to a large bowl and pour the egg white/butter mixture over the walnuts, toss to combine.

4. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the walnuts and stir to combine.

5. Spread the coated walnuts in a single layer onto the baking sheet.

6. Bake for 20 minutes, tossing halfway. Bake until golden brown in color. Remove from the oven. Allow the walnuts to cool completely before serving.

Other Cooking  Methods: 

Candied walnuts on the stovetop – 

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a non-stick skillet on medium heat.
  2. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. 

Candied walnuts in the crockpot – 

  1. To your slow cooker, add all of the ingredients.
  2. Cook on high for about an hour. 

Air fryer candied walnuts – 

  1. Add the walnut coated in sugar to the air fryer basket.
  2. Bake at 350°F for about 8 minutes, or until the nuts are golden-brown.

If your walnuts are still coming out soft, add them back to the oven for an additional 5 minutes. 

Do I need to soak the nuts before cooking?

This recipe doesn’t require any prep or soaked nuts. 

Can other nuts be used? 

You can use a variety of your favorite nuts! This recipe works great to make candied almonds, candied pistachios, and even candied pecans. The bake time will be slightly different depending on the size of the nut.

Does toasting walnuts make them taste better?

We thinking roasting walnuts in sugar gives them an extra delicious flavor and texture. 

Can you use brown sugar?

Yes, you can use brown sugar, and even honey in place of cane sugar.

  • 3 cups walnut halves about 10 oz
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg white
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
