Some days standing in the kitchen for hours baking a dessert does not sound appealing. Therefore, it’s nice to have a quick backup that’s good, yet quick. This gelatin is amazing and well, no need to slave in the kitchen to prepare it. π You can change the flavors if you do not like strawberries. You can use cherry gelatin and add fresh cherries to the bottom layer. Or do apricot gelatin and add canned drained apricots (this is my FAVORITE!!). Fruit can be added to the top layer instead of the creamy layer (like in this picture). If I do fruit berries on top I don’t add it to the bottom layer. Kids really enjoy this and adults alike. Enjoy..

Creamy Layered Jello
Ingredients
Bottom layer-
- 6 oz gelatin ( I use Jell-O brand)
- 2 cups water
- 8 oz cool whip
- 16 oz sour cream
- 16 oz strawberries or any other berries if adding to top layer
Top layer-
- 6 oz gelatin
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Bring two cups water to boil, add 6 oz gelatin and mix well. Remove from heat, let COOL completely.
- Chop your strawberries into desired sizes. Sliced, cubed or quartered. I like larger sizes therefore quarter mine or smaller if strawberries are large.
- In a bowl combine sour cream and cool whip and beat on medium speed until smooth. Add the cooled gelatin and mix on high speed until all the ingredients are incorporated and no white chunks remain.
- In a 9x13 glass dish place your strawberries on bottom of dish. Pour the mixture over the strawberries and gently mix. You can also first pour the mixture then add the strawberries. Your personal preference.
- Place in refrigerator to set (mine takes about 30 minutes). In the meantime, bring 2 cups water to boil, add gelatin and mix. Remove from heat and add 2 cups cold water. Set aside to completely cool.
- Once the layer has thickened, remove from refrigerator and SLOWLY pour the remaining gelatin. Place back into refrigerator for top layer to set. Enjoy!.

Never tried it with heavy cream but 8 oz cool whip is 1 1/2 cups heavy cream whipped:)
