stromboli dough –
- 2 cups all-purpose flour measured then sifted
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp melted unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 2 tsp granulated sugar
filling –
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1½ cups shredded cheese**
- 1/4 lb pepperoni slices
- 1/8 lb salami
- 1/8 lb ham
egg wash –
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp water
- ½ tsp italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add the sifted flour and create a well in the center.
- In a separate bowl, add warm water, butter, and salt. Pour the mixture into the well. Sprinkle the yeast and sugar on the water and gently stir, activating the yeast. This should take about five minutes.
- Mix the dough until well incorporated, cover, and let rise for an hour.
- Flour a surface and roll the dough into a 12” x 17” rectangle. Place the dough on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Spread the marinara sauce on the dough, leaving an inch around the edges.
