Step by step pictures on how to make rice.

How to make rice-

There are so many methods for cooking rice. You can cook it on the stovetop, in a rice cooker or in the oven. The stove top is probably the most common but there’s so much that can go wrong. I’ve had the rice be overcooked, undercooked way too often.

So, finally, I started making my rice in the oven and will never go back to any other method again.

Cilantro lime rice-

It’s so easy to turn this recipe into something with more flavor. I love to change things up a bit.

Cilantro lime rice is great. I know some people like to add the lime juice into the water during cooking, I find that just adding the lime and cilantro as soon as I take the rice out of the oven gives more flavor to the rice along with the fresh cilantro.

For this portion of rice, add 3 Tbsp of fresh lime juice and 3 to 4 Tbsp fresh chopped cilantro. Fluff rice.

What kind of rice should I use?

For this baked rice recipe, you are going to want to use long-grain white rice. Uncle Ben’s is a favorite of ours. However, you can use your favorite brand.

Do you think i can freeze baked rice to use it later in camp?

    • Valentina's Corner 07/07/2019, 9:54 pm Link Reply

Most definitely. Allow the rice to completely cool and freeze in a freezer bag or freezer-friendly containers. 🙂 Enjoy camping.

I have been making rice for almost 50 years and never made it in the oven. But I am a convert after making it this way. I have made it in the microwave with some success but this is much easier. It is so nice to just put the ingredients in the casserole and let it bake on its own. I made this as a side dish for your Bang Bang Shrimp. Both were delicious.

I love the idea for the oven very clever? to double the recipe, is it still the same time for the oven or cook longer?

    • admin 08/03/2018, 4:15 pm Link Reply

I’ve never tried to double it so can’t be for sure. You may need to cook it just a little longer. Check on it like 10 minutes before times is up, mix it and see how much liquid is left.
Mariana, you’ll never use any other method for cooking rice. 🙂

Does the casserole dish need to be covered with aluminum foil?

    • admin 08/03/2018, 12:37 am Link Reply

No need to cover the dish, Brielle. I hope you enjoy the rice. 🙂
