How to Make Waffle Cake 

Step by step instructions for the most perfect dessert.

  1. Beat the Dulce de leche and butter in a high-speed bowl for 3 minutes.

2. Take each wafer and generously spread the cream mixture on top, being sure to get the sides. Keep stacking until you have three cake layers; repeat with the following three layers.

3. Cover the cake tightly in plastic wrap and place a cutting board on top. Add something heavy onto the cutting board.

4. Cut the cake into squares or rectangles and serve!

Our homemade Dulce de leche is so easy to make and uses only one ingredient, so we highly encourage you to make your own. Not only is it tastier, but it’s also so much cheaper. However, you can always substitute with store-bought. 

Can you make this cake in advance? 

This is the best cake to make in advance! Make the night before a party and store in plastic wrap before serving.

Store & Reheat 

  • Storage. Wrap the waffle cake tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Freeze. To enjoy the waffle cakes longer, store them in the freezer in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. To serve, thaw the waffle cake in the refrigerator and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack wafers 6 sheets
  • 1 14 oz can dulce de leche
  • 1 stick unsalted butter

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine dulce de leche and butter and beat on high speed for about 3 minutes.
  • Take each wafer and generously spread cream; be sure to get the sides. Keep stacking until you have 3 layers.
  • Repeat with the next 3 layers.
  • Cover the wafers in plastic wrap, place a cutting board over the wafer layers, and place something heavy over the top for at least an hour.
  • Cut the cake into desired shapes and serve.
