Super Bowl Recipes

When it comes to the Super Bowl, I’m only here for the food! I mean, when else can you enjoy a buffalo chicken dip, crispy bbq chicken wings, and cheesy jalapeno poppers! There’s nothing better than a bunch of appetizers.

Ingredients for Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers

Simple ingredients make for the best appetizer:

  • Jalapenos – Pick out medium-large jalapenos that are smooth with little to no blemishes.
  • Cream cheese – Full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature, makes the perfect filling.
  • Seasoning – Our secret ingredient is ranch powder, along with salt and pepper.
  • Cheese – Shredded cheddar cheese makes these poppers deliciously cheesy and flavorful.
  • Thick-cut bacon – Since these jalapeno poppers are wrapped in bacon, keep the bacon strips whole.

See the recipe card below for a complete list of ingredients and quantities.

Did You Know?

Jalapenos are one of those peppers that are either super mild or incredibly spicy – and there are a few ways to tell which pepper is which! When making jalapeno poppers, it’s usually a good idea to pick peppers that won’t have people’s mouths burning. Here are some things to look out for:

  • Size: Large jalapeño peppers will be less spicy than the small ones.
  • Appearance: Peppers with lots of lines and markings are going to be the spicy ones. Pick the smooth and “pretty” peppers.
  • Color: Jalapenos range from deep green to red. Stick with the bright green ones, as the ones with red spots are going to be spicy.

Make in Advance

To prep these jalapeno poppers in advance, simply assemble them and add to a baking sheet or a casserole dish. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 days before baking.

Other Cooking Methods

The air fryer is a great way to make these poppers even faster!

Add the peppers to the air fryer and bake at 400°F for 10 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy.

Expert Tips:

  • Wear gloves. When cleaning out the peppers  it’s crucial that you wear gloves! This will protect your hands from burning.
  • Fill the peppers perfectly. Use a spoon to evenly fill each pepper. You don’t want to overfill the pepper.
  • Wrap tightly. When wrapping the poppers with bacon, it’s important to wrap each pepper tightly. You can even use a toothpick to secure the bacon in the pepper while it bakes!

Store & Reheat

  • Storage. Keep leftover poppers stored in a tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. They make for a delicious snack!
  • Reheat. Warm up leftover poppers in the air fryer for a few minutes.
  • Freeze. We don’t recommend freezing these jalapeno poppers as they won’t hold up well.
