INGREDIENTS-

All you need for this easy taco recipe is just 4 basic ingredients!

  • Chicken– We use boneless skinless chicken breast for this recipe.
  • Broth– Chicken broth is what we used but you can also use vegetable broth or even beef broth!
  • Taco Seasoning– We used our Homemade Taco seasoning for these tacos but you can also use store-bought taco seasoning with great results. 
  • Salsa– Your favorite tomato salsa will work great, we used a mild salsa.
  • Greens– We love the flavor cilantro gives the tacos but you can use parsley instead or leave out the greens completely.

HOW TO MAKE INSTANT POT SHREDDED CHICKEN TACOS-

This recipe is so easy and quick to make in the pressure cooker. In just 15 minutes, you can have the chicken tacos ready to be enjoyed!

  1. Combine – Place the chicken, chicken broth, taco seasoning, and salsa into the instant pot.
  2. Cook – Close the lid and pressure cook until the chicken is ready.
  3. Shred – Remove and shred the chicken then add back to the juices.
  4. Serve – Serve on flour tortillas or corn tortillas with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Arrange taco toppings on a large platter or in individual bowls to serve buffet style.

SLOW COOKER METHOD-

This pulled chicken taco recipe may easily be made in a crock pot!

  1. Just add the chicken breast, broth, taco seasoning, and salsa to the slow cooker.
  2. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low heat for 6-7 hours.
  3. Shred the chicken and place back in the crockpot and mix with the juices and keep on warm until you serve.

Cooked chicken should read an internal temperature of 165°F.

This recipe calls for 2 Tbsp of taco seasoning which is equal to 1 packet of taco seasoning.

Can I use frozen chicken?

Yes you can use frozen chicken, it will just take a bit longer! Pressure cook for 15 minutes.

What kind of chicken can I use?

This recipe calls for boneless skinless chicken breast but you can also use boneless skinless chicken thighs.

  • 2 lbs chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 Tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup salsa

Instructions

Instant Pot Method-

  • Place the chicken, chicken broth, taco seasoning, and salsa into the instant pot.
  • Close the lid, seal and pressure cook for 10-12 minutes then pressure release.
  • Remove the chicken from the instant pot and shred with two forks. Place the chicken back into the juice and stir to combine.
  • Serve on tortillas with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Crockpot Method-

  • Add the chicken breast, chicken broth, taco seasoning, and the salsa into the slow cooker.
  • Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low heat for 6-7 hours.
  • Remove the chicken and shred with two forks. Place back into the slow cooker and mix to combine with the juice. Keep on warm while serving.
